What is a gel manicure?
Gel nails are your own nails finished in gel polish: a thin, durable colour applied to the natural nail. It gives a glossy, chip-free result that lasts up to three weeks, depending on how you use your hands day to day.
It is the treatment to choose when you like your nails as they are and want colour that stays put. Nothing is added for length.
Gel, builder gel or extensions: which do you need?
The three are easy to mix up, so here is the short version.
- Gel is colour on your natural nails, at the length they are now.
- Builder gel is thicker and goes on as an overlay that adds strength and structure. It suits you if you want to strengthen your nails and grow them longer. There is more on the builder gel (BIAB) nails page.
- Extensions add length straight away, using tips. They are listed on the nail treatments page.

Can you add nail art to gel nails?
Yes. Nail art is an add-on you choose when you book, in three tiers. The first covers stickers, cat eye, dots, hearts and flowers. The second adds blooming gel, chrome, crystals, inclusions and animal prints. The third adds different art on every nail, ombré and auras.

Coming in with gel or acrylic already on?
If what you have on needs to come off before your new colour, add Removal when you book, so the time is allowed for it.
If you only want your gel or acrylic taken off, book a Soak Off on its own. It is a safe, professional removal that does not damage your natural nails.

How long do gel nails last?
Our gel manicures stay glossy and chip-free for up to three weeks, depending on how you use your hands day to day.
Do I need a patch test for gel nails?
No. Patch tests at Classica Beauty are for lash lifts, lash and brow tinting and brow lamination. If you have had a reaction to nail products before, please tell us before your appointment.
Can I have gel on my toes?
Yes. Gel Toes is gel colour applied to toenails for a polished, long-lasting look.
What products do you use for gel nails?
We use Halo for nails, a professional brand, chosen for safety, how long it lasts and the finish.
