Is builder gel the same as BIAB?
Yes. BIAB is short for "builder in a bottle". It began as one brand's name for its builder gel and has become the word most people use for the treatment as a whole. Our menu calls it builder gel, so if you have been searching for BIAB nails, this is what to book.
What makes it different from an ordinary gel manicure is the thickness. Gel polish is a thin, durable colour finish on the natural nail. Builder gel is thicker, and goes on as an overlay that adds strength and structure.
Overlay or extension: which should you book?
Book the overlay if you are happy with the length you have, or want to grow your own. The builder gel sits on your natural nail as a protective layer.
Book the extension if you want more length now. The builder gel is applied with tips and sculpted into shape. It is the longer appointment of the two.

Keeping builder gel looking its best
Builder gel can be maintained with infills every two weeks. An infill fills the regrowth and refreshes the surface, and suits nails with up to two weeks of growth. Infills are listed with the rest of the menu on the nail treatments page.
If one nail lifts or breaks between visits, a nail repair is priced per nail.
Before your appointment
There is nothing to prepare beyond arriving with clean hands. If you are coming in with gel or acrylic that needs to come off first, add Removal when you book so the time is allowed for it.

Do I need a patch test for builder gel?
No. Patch tests at Classica Beauty are for lash lifts, lash and brow tinting and brow lamination. Nail treatments do not need one. If you have had a reaction to nail products before, please tell us before your appointment.
I already have gel or acrylic on. What should I book?
If your existing gel or acrylic needs to come off first, add Removal when you book and the time for it is built into your appointment.
Can I have builder gel on my toes?
